Experience The Morocco We Love
In the first day of our safar, arrival in Rabat, where you clear customs and immigration and transfer to your riad. After settling in, spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Rabat is the capital and one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Our beautiful Riad is situated in the heart of the Medina. It is walking distance to the Oudaya gardens and the souk. This is a perfect place to get accustomed to the art of bargaining. The people are warm and welcoming.
We will depart for Fes after enjoying lunch and stories of the Barbary Pirates on Le Dhow boat located on the Bouregrag River.
The city of Fes has two Medinas and is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is also one of the world’s largest car-free urban areas. This medieval city will transport you in time and is impossible to experience in only one day! We will spend our second day on a guided tour that we curate together. We will visit our favorite spots and your points of interest.
Our morning drive will take us through the beautiful cedar forest of Azrou. If you are an ape lover, you will be excited to stop and see the Barbary apes, native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Another highlight of this drive will be stopping for coffee, tea and a walk through the small town of Ifrane, known as Africa’s “Little Switzerland.” We will enjoy one night in the Palm Oasis. It is a very special experience that will steal your heart
The afternoon of the fifth day discover the fortified desert town of Rissani. Continue to the desert dunes of the Sahara by four-wheel-drive vehicle, where a reception with mint tea and pastries awaits at our luxury nomadic tented camp. The stunning reddish-hued sand dunes can reach up to 500 feet high, creating an otherworldly landscape. You have the option for a sunset ride by camel back. We will hire Gnawa musicians to perform for us under the stars.
We will depart in the morning and travel along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to Dades Valley. This road was once a stopping point for African traders travelling to the cities of Morocco and Europe. En route, absorb views of the High Atlas’ southern slopes, intersecting the Dades Valley’s flourishing crops, irrigation canals and palm trees. We will stay 1 night in the Dades Valley.
Named the door to the desert and is famous for its movie industry and beautiful Kasbahs. It is calm and welcoming. This is where Mohamed grew up. We will meet his family and visit their farm. We will have tea with his father who is over 115 years old. He will share stories and his secret to longevity.
Morocco derives its name from Marrakesh. Located to the north of the foot hills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, Marrakesh is the fourth largest city in Morocco and one of its most visited places for its history, culture, and architecture. Walk the most famous UNESCO recognized square in the heart of the medina. In the evening it transforms into a medieval circus. We will visit Majorelle Gardens. These beautiful gardens were home to Yves Saint Laurent and include a wonderful berber museum
A beautiful laid back port city. If you like fish, art, music, food or silver jewelry, this is your spot. Enjoy your day by walking the ramparts. Shopping is a must. Take a cooking class. Walk the souk. We will dine at Cafe Caravan. This is a special night with great food, entertainment and delicious cocktails.
Transfer to the Marrakech airport and board your international flight home. By this, Safar sadly ends.
