My Morocco Travel invites you to experience the less traveled path during our Erg Chigaga, Sahara Experience Tour.
The Erg Chigaga dunes are a remote and isolated desert paradise in Morocco. The isolated nature of Erg Chigaga makes it a perfect destination for those seeking solitude. The dunes stretch for miles, creating a vast and undulating sea of golden sand that seems to go on forever. Located in the Sahara Desert, these dunes offer a serene and untouched landscape that is truly awe-inspiring.
On your arrival at Marrakech airport, you will be greeted by a Misty and Mohamed who will assist you with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel in Marrakech.
Morocco derives its name from Marrakesh. Located to the north of the foot hills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, Marrakesh is the fourth largest city in Morocco and one of its most visited places for its history, culture, and architecture. Walk the most famous UNESCO recognized square in the heart of the medina. In the evening it transforms into a medieval circus. We will visit Majorelle Gardens. These beautiful gardens were home to Yves Saint Laurent and include a wonderful berber museum. We will wander the souks, experience the diverse gastronomy and experience the night life.
DAY 3 ZAGORA – THE PALM OASIS
Am departure to Zagora. This is a 6 hour long travel day. We will make multiple stops along the way. Driving through the Atlas Mountains and Amazigh(Berber) perched villages is a memorable experience. Coffee stops and lunch on the road. Dinner at our beautiful Riad. Refresh yourself with an evening swim and a cocktail if you wish.
Morning at Riad Lamane’s beautiful grounds. In the afternoon, we will visit the old town of Zagora to purchase turbans for an authentic Sahara experience. We will then embark on a 2-hour 4×4 ride through the isolated rocky desert to reach the stunning dunes where we will be glamping overnight. Enjoy music around a bonfire before dinner, followed by a sunset camel ride.
Experiencing a sunrise in Chigaga is a must. You can choose to take a camel ride or walk into the dunes.We will depart back to Riad Lamane via 4x4s.Relax with drinks by the swimming pool and enjoy evening entertainment.
Morning departure. We will arrive in Ouarzazate early afternoon, a calm and welcoming city where Mohamed grew up. The next day, we will visit his family’s farm and have lunch at his family’s house. You will have the opportunity to meet his father, who is 115 years old.
Ouarzazate is a perfect place to purchase Glaoui carpets and other handcrafts of Morocco. Evening walks are a part of the culture and provide a great opportunity to people-watch and take in the views of the Taourirt Kasbah, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We will also take a day trip to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the region’s most exotic kasbahs. These structures seemingly defy the laws of gravity as they perch upon steep slopes. Some of these buildings have been featured in films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.
Our journey will take us through the scenic Tishka Pass, where we can admire the stunning landscapes and enjoy the thrill of driving through the high mountain range. We will cross the high Atlas Mountains and pass through the dramatic Tichka Pass. Along the way, we will make a stop at an argan cooperative. Keep your eyes out for goats in the argan trees!
Upon our early evening arrival in Essaouira, a small fortified city on the edge of the Atlantic, we will take a walk to the ocean and visit the Ramparts.
Essaouira is known for its mellow atmosphere and offers a unique selection of silver, leather, and paintings. For dinner, we have a special treat in store for you. We will take you to Cafe Caravane, a restaurant that offers a unique experience. You can expect local musicians, entertainment, and incredible cuisine!
Sadly our tour ends. Transfer to the Marrakech airport and board your flight home.
